How many times have you heard the phrase “don’t quit your day job”? It may be said as either a genuine concern, an insult or a joke – but no matter the context it still sends out a very negative message. It says “don’t try because you will fail” when in reality, the only sure way to fail is to never try at all.
Therefore, this post is a reminder to hold onto your dreams. For the majority of us, it is necessary to work in order to feed, clothe and shelter ourselves. But it’s also important to remember to never let anyone else influence you to let go of your aspirations. Your job may be necessary to your survival, but if you have a dream and a potentially viable way of achieving it, go for it. No one can tell you that it is wrong or stupid. To quote another overused phrase; “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” So many people give up when it becomes too hard or too much effort to achieve their goals and that’s why they discourage others. If you put in time, effort and passion – maybe you will be able to quit the job you hate, focus on your dreams and live a life less ordinary.
